DSC Visits Queensborough Community College 4-8-14
Gabriel returned to percussionist Jon Singer's World's of Music at Queensborough Community College to present music from Salvador da Bahia. Check out the following clip, in which students perform DSC's arrangement of a dance called Avamuna, from the traditions of Candomble. The students lead the song, play the drum parts, and perform the dance, all after learning it for only 15 minutes. We all had a great time, and everyone (including Gabriel) walked away having learned so much.
Thank you Jon for hosting!

It looks like everyone had a great time. There were lots of smiles in that one!
ReplyDeleteHey Samantha! Yea, we've been having a ton of success with our Avamuna dance lesson. We just did it with young kids in Jersey and they had just as much fun as the adults in this video. Thanks for checking us out!!!
