Gabriel-Live From Blue Skies
T-Minus two days till I leave!
With music and community a fixed in my mind as we prepare for our project in Salvador I headed up to visit my family in Canada last week. One of the things that I'm hoping will become an annual family tradition is our trip to Blue Skies Music Festival. Blue Skies is a 40 year old tradition located 30 minutes from my parents' house in Eastern Ontario. Blue Skies is truly a special place. At Blue Skies, everyone is a musician, whether they sing, play guitar, or just shake a shaker. Everyone comes there to camp out, meet like minded people (without trying to be offensive, hippy, organic, environmentalist types--and I say that in a loving and respectful way) and most of all make music. Last year at Blue Skies, I had a couple different life changing experience involving making spontaneous music all night every night. I was happy to return again this year and meet up with two friends from last year, Lauren and Joel to talk about the festival and how it merges music and community in a very Canadian way.

NOTE: This was made on an IPhone, so audio is a little spotty at times.
