**** NEW Lesson: Afro-Cuban Guanguanco

Here is a lesson we developed for a professional development we led with the YOURS Project.  It breaks down some simple ways to incorporate rhythms from the Afro-Cuban Rumba tradition within a bucket ensemble.  We think this lesson has some great potential so pleas feel free to borrow/steal any ideas you'd like. It's not perfect, we know, so PLEASE LEAVE SOME FEEDBACK!

1) Demo/Introduction

2) Warmup

3) Development Pt 1 (Cuba is the home of the rumba)

4) Bucket Basics/Applying Rhythm to Buckets

5) Rumba Dancing 101

Here are some clips of the lesson in action:

Avamunha Dance/Drum/Song Arrangement, as presented at YOLA Take a Stand 2014

Here is a video breakdown of the content we shared at our workshop on February 22 at the Los Angeles' Philharmonic's Take a Stand Symposium.  It is our arrangement inspired by the songs, rhythms, and dances of a style of Candomble (Afro-Brazilian Religious music) called Avamunha. Hope you enjoy!
